This is a fascinating story that tells of the many ups and downs in the 65 year history of the Thirty-ninth and of some of the legendary characters who made it once one of the foremost Scout Groups in Edinburgh. It will appeal not only to those who were once members of the Group, but to anyone involved in the Scout Movement or St John’s Church, or, for that matter, anyone who has an interest in Edinburgh’s local history.
The book was launched in St John's Church Hall at the West End of Edinburgh on Monday 11th October 2004. A collection was held and after defraying the costs of the launch, a contribution of £40 to the new building works at the Bonaly Scout Outdoor Centre.
